Annual Lunch
As a membership‑based rugby club, we rely entirely on community grants and fundraising initiatives to support our operations and player development. Our primary fundraising event is an annual luncheon attended by approximately 400–500 guests.
Guests enjoy an engaging programme featuring former international rugby players, coaches, referees and administrators of sport, alongside live and silent auctions and a dedicated raffle that collectively generate essential funding for the club’s ongoing activities.
Following many successful years at Sky Stadium, the 2025 fundraising luncheon was held at a new venue. The Lower Hutt Event Centre was a perfect match for the event’s new look, and the change was met with a great deal of positive comment.
We were fortunate to host former All Black and Sky Sports commentator Justin Marshall, as well as former Springbok international Danie Gerber. Former England & Hurricanes player Thomas Waldrom and former All Black brother Scott Waldrom also entertained guests with many memorable stories from their rugby journeys. Longtime Centurions member and supporter Fuaono Ken Laban was our Q&A facilitator. The event MC was broadcaster and sports journalist Jim Kayes.
We are incredibly grateful for the support of these sponsors for our event:

Sir Ashley Bloomfield (then Dr Ashley Bloomfield, Director-General of Health) played for the Centurions XV against the New Zealand Parliamentary XV for the 25th Annual Parliamentary Rugby Match held at Wainuiomata on 25 July 2020. He played at openside flanker and scored the opening try in the Centurions' 19-10 victory.
