New Zealand Rugby (NZR) announced the four squads for the New Zealand U20 Development Programme in Taupo from 14-21 March.
A group of 100 U20 selected players were split into four squads, the Barbarians, Centurions, Saracens and Harlequins for a week that included two match days.
The week will also provide development opportunities for coaches and management which included the New Zealand U20s coaching and management team alongside a mix of Super Rugby Club, Provincial Union and community rugby volunteers.
Huge thanks to All Blacks coach Jason Ryan for presenting the jerseys and giving a talk to the team before the game v NZ Barbarians.
This year saw the 24th year that Gareth Head Coaching clinic for 11-13 year old has been operating. We had nearly 400 children participating in this 4 week programme Thanks to all our volunteers who help make these clinics a success.
Look out for the future Lions and Pride players from the Wellington Rugby Academy programme, superb coaching, and thanks to the wonderful organisation of Gus McMillan and Ken Laban.
Centurions is proud to sponsor as well as provide coaching, the coaches and kids' tees, some of the kit and lots of enthusiasm. Thank you Pak n Save Petone for the fruit for the kids, and to Petone Rugby for your club rooms and field.
Our founder and all around legend (and mayor of Lower Hutt) Ken Laban giving the welcome.
